Things you need to prepare before motorcycle securement

  1. 2 inch ratchet straps with proper hardware and pays attention to the strap working load limit.
  2. Motorcycle wheel chock to fix the motorcycle position.
  3. A ramp to connect your motorcycle to the pickup truck or trailer.
  4. Motorcycle tie down handlebar straps or loop straps

First, you need to choose 4 ratchet straps and 2 handlebar straps, check the weight of your motorcycle and ensure the tie down strap working load limit can hold your motorcycle. Connect handlebar straps with one end of your ratchet strap and another end connect with the securement point of your trailer and then tightened by the ratchet handle.

Second, as stated above, the motorcycle only has two wheels and can not stand firmly on the ground, so you will need the wheel chock to keep the motorcycle balanced during securement and fix the position of your motorcycle. This is the economical way to ensure your motorcycle can be safely secured during transportation. If you do not have a motorcycle wheel chock, you will need to put the kickstand down until you balance both sides of your motorcycle handlebar. Don’t forget to put the kickstand back after balancing your motorcycle.

Third, you need to use the ramp to connect your motorcycle to the back of your trailer or pickup truck. It is better if there is another one that can help you, but if only you and wheel chock is not available, you need to tie down the handlebar first.

Fourth, balancing each of your motorcycle handlebars using a handlebar strap and hook with a ratchet tie down strap, you will need at least 4 ratchet tie down straps, two for the front and two for the back. You just need to move the ratchet handle up and down to tighten the strap. Please pay attention that does not overtighten, because overtight the tie down strap will damage your motorcycle.
