For this question, there is no fixed answer, because according to different loads weight, and length, you need different kinds of ratchet tie down straps and different numbers of tie down straps. Here is data stated in Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration that if your cargo is shorter than 5 ft and lighter than 1100lbs, you just need one tie-down. If your cargo is shorter than 5 ft and heavier than 1100lbs or cargo length between 5 ft to 10 ft, you will need 2 tie-downs. For every additional 10 ft, you need to add one more tie-down.
