How to Use Lifting Sling

Lifting Sling is used to load something that is heavy, large quantity, or big in size, something we can not handle by hand. Normally, it always works with some lifting equipment, such as hoist and crane, we call them hoist sling or crane sling. When you use the lifting sling to load your cargo, please pay attention to the following points:

Check the status of the sling

Safety of the sling is very important, before you use the sling, check if there’s damage on it. During the work of the sling, if the sling breaks, it is very dangerous. The cargo may damage and the working staff under and around the cargo may get hurt.

Choose the right lifting sling-type before load

We have two types of lifting sling, one is webbing sling and another one is round sling. Webbing sling is soft and has a wider load surface and can protect the cargo very well. Round sling is very flexible to handle different shapes of goods.

Read the working load limit carefully

Each sling has a label marked the work load limit, the weight of the loads can not exceed the WLL of the sling. For example, if the cargo need to be loaded is 9 tonne and you need to choose the WLL 10 ton sling, you can not choose an 8-tonne lifting sling.

Attach the lifting sling to the cargo securely

According to different cargo, there are different loading methods, please make sure the safest way of loading, in order to avoid the cargo sliding, loosen and cause some unnecessary injuries.

Make the center of gravity of the cargo and lifting point on the same perpendicular line

Keep the lifting point and the center of gravity of the cargo on the same perpendicular line is also important, or else the cargo may swing or slanting or falling off, this can lead to some injuries to the workers around it.
