  1. Ideal for Well Coated Loads

One of the advantages of synthetic webbing is they don’t cause scratch or crush to your loads. So sometimes the synthetic webbing sling is a better replacement for the chain slings or wire rope slings.

  1. Cost-Efficient

Synthetic slings are always cheaper than other types of slings. If you ask which sling is cheaper? Please choose the sling for the job, not for the price, because their price does not have much difference.

  1. Lightweight

Polyester sling and nylon slings are much lighter than the chain sling and wire rope. So they are easy to carry and handle.

  1. Strong Enough

Each sling can load over thousand pounds, not much difference between nylon lifting slings and polyester lifting slings. You only need to care about is choosing the right web sling rated for the loads you need to handle.

Physical Differences

You can see there are several similarities between nylon webbing sling and polyester webbing sling, but there are also many differences between them, so let’s take a look at them:

  • Nylon has more stretch than Polyester

Nylon slings have more stretch than polyester slings but decide which type of sling to use is based on your needs, such as the load itself, the operating environment. Here is the data for your reference (nylon stretch 3-7 percent at WLL and polyester stretch 2-3 percent at WLL).

For example, if you are loading something in the room which has a height limitation, then we suggest you use a polyester lifting sling. But if your loads require high stretch in order to reduce the risk of bounce around, then we suggest you use a nylon lifting sling. This is also why customers need recovery straps in nylon material, but tow straps in polyester material.

  • Polyester is more flexible and softer than Nylon

Both polyester sling and nylon sling are soft, but due to the chemical coating on the nylon itself, so it will be a little rough than polyester. If your loads have a very nice coating surface, we suggest using the polyester sling.

About flexible, the polyester sling is a little more than nylon. The result coming from these two aspects: polyester sling could wrap around the load tightly and grip more load surface.

Environmental Difference

Another factor we need to pay attention to is the operating environment of these two slings. Such as polyester sling has better water resistance than nylon sling, suit for use in the condition may have waters. But, we also need to take care of their chemical resistance.

  • Acids or Bleaches will damage Nylon Slings

If the sling working environment has sulfuric, nitric, hydrochloric, phosphoric acids, sodium hypochlorite, hydrogen peroxide, sodium percarbonate, and calcium hypochlorite, then do not use nylon sling, because these chemicals will damage it.

  • Ethers or Alkalis will damage the Polyester Sling

If your sling working environment including diethyl ether, dimethyl ether, sodium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide, calcium hydroxide, calcium carbonate, and magnesium hydroxide, please do not use the polyester sling in these environments, because they will damage it.
